DR. NATHAN MILLER, MD, QME

Nathan A. Miller, M.D. is a pioneer in the field of pain medicine with over a decade of experience treating patients in the North County San Diego area. Dr. Nathan Miller is a well-respected, compassionate physician who strives to help his patients regain their lives. He is Chief of Pain Medicine at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas, and is double-board certified in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Medicine.
Dr. Miller completed his pain fellowship at the prestigious University Of Virginia’s pain program. He is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a Qualified Medical Examiner in the State of California.
Dr. Miller is at the forefront of the treatment and management of a wide variety of acute and chronic pain disorders. He is a strong proponent of a multi-disciplinary approach in pain management to improve outcomes and increase quality of life. With his knowledge and the use of advanced medicine, he has been able to help many patients who had little hope of a functional life. Dr. Miller specializes in difficult cases where other pain doctors have given up. He continues to stay current in the field of pain management and studies peer-reviewed medical journals and literature. His colleagues have noted his strong commitment to ethical patient care and compassion. He practices evidenced-based pain management.

Dr. Nathan Miller is a native of southern California and is dedicated to increasing awareness of pain management. In his free time, he enjoys bicycling and spending time with his family. Dr. Miller will be retiring in October 2026 from treating patients but will still continue with his QME practice.

DR. ANKUSH BANSAL, MD

Dr. Ankush Bansal is a double board-certified Anesthesiologist and Interventional Pain Physician (through the American Board of Anesthesiology) who has devoted his career to understanding complex and difficult-to-treat painful conditions. He has helped numerous patients with incapacitating pain improve their quality of life and regain function. He is actively involved in ongoing clinical research and multiple national medical societies including the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, and the North American Neuromodulation Society. He has published articles in peer-reviewed medical journals including the Pain Medicine Journal. He is continually striving to find new and effective ways to treat chronic pain.
Dr. Bansal completed his undergraduate training at the University of Michigan where he studied the impact of exercise, nutrition, and movement on the human body. He completed his Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Michigan Medical School. After enduring a chronic painful neck injury, he moved to Los Angeles to specialize in Anesthesiology and Chronic Interventional Pain Management through the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) where he was mentored by some of the most renowned figures in the field of Pain Medicine.

He joined Coastal in 2018 and is dedicated to our mission of bringing the highest quality and compassionate pain services to patients. He currently has medical and surgical privileges at Scripps Memorial Encinitas Hospital and Tri-City Medical Center. He has a particular interest in treating neck, back, trunk, pelvis, shoulder, hip, and knee pain through various medical, interventional, and regenerative techniques.

In his free time, he loves spending time with family, traveling, running, and enjoying the beautiful landscape of San Diego.

DR. EVAN GOODMAN, MD

JACKIE ELLIS, PI BUSINESS MANAGER

Jackie was born and raised in San Diego with a versatile background in customer service, marketing, business operations, and the legal field. She joined the CPSD team in March 2020 during the peak of the pandemic. At the time, she was the only team member of the PI Dept. and oversaw the care for all the PI patients of Dr. Bansal and Dr. Miller.

Fast-forward to today, she has scaled the department and oversees its business operations, marketing, and business development. She also acts as a liaison between providers and attorneys/case managers, handles account settlements, and makes any med-legal appointments for providers.

DANIELA NUNEZ LOPEZ – NEW PATIENT COORDINATOR (BILINGUAL-SPANISH)

Daniela, aka Dani, joined the PI Dept in Feb. 2026 and is the first impression for patients. Her friendly demeanor and professionalism put patients at ease with their treatment. Her background in customer service and urgent care call centers has enabled her to seamlessly integrate with Coastal’s need for urgency in med-legal matters.

She loves playing with her dog and kitten and cooking, and spending time with her friends/family.

ELIZABETH PADILLA– PI COORDINATOR (BILINGUAL-SPANISH)

Elizabeth is a San Diego native and joined our team in June 2023 as our amazing Spanish-speaking PI Coordinator. She has a background in project management, legal processing preliminaries, elderly care, and working with injured patients, which provides her with the skills and empathy to work with our personal injury patients.

Elizabeth was promoted to our PI Coordinator position from our scheduler position in June 2024 to assist patients with their treatment and provide fast and efficient customer service to attorneys and outside providers.

She enjoys the holidays, baking, and going to the river with her family in her free time.

Monique, aka Mona, joined our team in June 2024 and brings over 25 years of experience in administrative, customer service, and early childhood development. She has a joyous personality that shines through when interacting with patients.
